The geology and geophysics program offers a masters of science and a doctor of philosophy at the graduate level. The master’s degree can be earned with either a thesis option or a non-thesis option.
Research emphases include:
- Low temperature and environmental geochemistry
- Mineralogy, petrology and economic geology
- Geophysics, tectonics and remote sensing
- Sedimentology, stratigraphy and paleoclimatology
- Petroleum exploration
The program has a wealth of equipment for research and exploration in geology, geochemistry and geophysics, and, in addition to its own facilities, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and the U.S. Geological Survey’s mid-continent mapping division are located nearby.
